the GULUGUFE series
The GULUGUFE series include the artist’s original paintings exploring cosmic consciousness through abstract expressionism. Gulugufe is the Chichewa word for “butterfly,” spoken widely in Malawi, where the artist had a transformational experience within a kaleidoscope of butterflies, while living for many years by the rhythm of the earth, without electricity and running water. Weaving together themes of globalism and spiritualism, each work emerges through an intuitive and meditative process. Vibrant layers of color and movement unfold into eclectic visual landscapes where labyrinths of wanderlust invite viewers into altered dimensions of perception and feeling. The series channels both earthly and cosmic energies. They are reflections of transformation, emergence, and the beauty of evolution. It is the art of becoming.
